When we think of Epiphany think of the fascinating “Aha!” moment of personal revelations but in a spiritual way. When was the last time you had one? Picture this: You’re searching for your glasses only to realize they’ve been on your head all along – that’s your simplest “Aha!” moment. Epiphany, on the other hand, is like realizing not only that the glasses are on your head but also that they’re a metaphor for seeing the world through new lenses. Quite a difference, right?
We often experience personal revelations. They can be mundane (like finally understanding your thermostat settings) or profound. These moments of clarity are often about self-improvement or personal ambitions. The New Year is a good time for the moments of clarity.
Epiphany is not just about realizing we should probably eat more greens or spend less time on our phones. It’s a spiritual awakening. It’s about recognizing the presence of the divine in our everyday lives and responding with action and empathy.
Epiphany challenges us to pay attention not just to our personal resolutions but to our collective mission. It’s about setting goals that transcend our individual needs and touch the lives of others – whether it’s through charity, outreach, or simply being a more present and compassionate neighbor.
So, as we set our personal and community resolutions, we will continue experiencing our everyday “Aha!” moments. Please share your epiphany moment to help others embrace the deeper meaning of this special celebration. It’s a call to a greater awareness, a broader vision, and a deeper connection with the divine and each other.
Blessings,
Pastor Lydia
